We follow the standards and grading set by Shotokan Karate, providing belt gradings and assessments to ensure students are progressing at an internationally recognised level.

Introduction to Shotokan Karate with a focus on correct basics, discipline, and confidence.
“Fundamental” refers to Kihon, the basic techniques and principles that form the foundation of all karate practice. This includes essential elements like stances (Tachikata), punches (Tsuki), kicks (Geri), and blocks (Uke), which are repeatedly practiced to develop proper body mechanics, balance, coordination, strength, and muscle memory.
Age group: 4–8 years
Experience level: Beginners (no prior training required)
Belt grade: White belt
Builds on the fundamentals with more advanced kihon, kata, and kumite
training. Students develop sharper techniques, combinations, and prepare for
higher belt gradings.
Age group: 8+ years
Experience level: Minimum 1 year training or equivalent
Belt grade: Yellow belt and above
“Intermediate” Shotokan Karate involves practicing more complex kata,
developing advanced kumite (sparring) techniques, and refining stances and
blocks with greater speed, power, and precision, typically corresponding to
green or blue belt levels.
